Ottaway Media Group, located in Campbell Hall, NY (Orange County, NY about 1.25 hours north of NYC) is seeking several fill time contract developers to work on our new CMS and redesigns of our newspapers' websites (over 20 across the nation). Ottaway MEdia Group is the community enwsppaers subsidiary of Dow Jones and Company. Our Web Tea, consists of 5 full time developers, and we are adding full-time contract developers on for the next year. This posiitn is NOT telecommuting- does require that you can get to and from Campbell Hall, NY a minimum of 4 days/week, to work with the applications development team and our Web Producers. We need full time experienced web developers with expertise in front-end technologies and a good design sense. The ideal candidates will be capable of designing and developing an interface based on a thorough grasp of business requirements and user interaction. Must be able to code modern web interfaces, using HTML, Javascript, CSS and layers, maintaining a separation between look and feel and functionality. Must be able to build sites that are portable and maintainable. Must be able to create and maintain style sheets based on a designer's direction, and must learn and use proprietary templating languages. Should be capable of understanding and interfacing with web products via standard interfaces, including HTTP, XML, CGI and SOAP. Technical experience is necessary but not sufficient. The successful candidate will be creative, adaptable, and focused on the end user. Web products are developed interactively and iteratively, and developers must be able to involve themselves in the evolution of the product, not wait for firm definitions of what is to be built. Most importantly, you must be excited and enthusiastic about the future of local news on the web. Experience: html, css, javascript fo rfornt-end technology. ASP. net for back-end technology.
