The successful candidate will provide administrative direction and support for the daily operational activities within the Corporate IT department and within the business units as well. Will work closely with the decision makers to identify, recommend, develop, execute, and support functional cost effective IT solutions. Reporting will be to the Corporate IT Director.
Experience/Qualifications:
. MCSE, MCP and A+ Hardware Certifications preferred.
. Experience in Windows Server 2003 network environment preferred.
. Minimum of three years in IT, or related, environment preferred.
. Application Support experience in Windows environment preferred.
. Excellent technical knowledge of current IT systems, networks, protocols and standards necessary.
. Experience in IT infrastructure planning and development preferred.
. Project Management experience preferred.

Basic Function:
As part of M&T's Technology and Banking Operations division, the Staff Specialist would be part of the Global Sourcing project responsible for servicing of the Bank's Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) and Global Staff Augmentation initiatives from a Technology Infrastructure (IT) perspective.
Responsibilities:
The Staff Specialist would as project lead and/or provide technical consulting services for large and/or complex project initiatives. Create and maintain a daily working relationship with engineering/systems managers (staff level) and act as liaison between unit and/or Central Technology to Technology Infrastructure (TI).
Consult and set technical strategic direction for department, business and executive IT management. Assist Information Technology and other business units with technology budgets; including yearly FTE, capital and expense plans. Other tasks including drafting of strategic whitepaper and presentation material.
Provide business based directional/strategic feedback to Network Computing Systems, Telecom and other Technology Infrastructure departments in the realm of: (1) aligning core technologies to business processes, (2) the business unit's demand for technology (specific/general) and (3) overall process improvement.
Identify opportunities for quality/efficiency improvements - cross train lesser experienced departmental personnel.
Work to build strong vendor relationships within, resource management, contract negotiations, outsourcing and implementation.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Technology related studies or 5+ years experience in similar environment
Knowledge of IP network fundamentals
One to three years proven project management and/or supervisory experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent time management skills
