Senior UNIX (AIX) System Admin in New York, NY

Senior Technical position that will have task lead responsibility Assure the highest levels of stability, integrity, reliability, security, and availability of the AIX production and disaster recovery environment Follow change control polices and prescribed procedures Execute special projects or other related duties as required Produce documentation and procedures regarding the proper use and operation of the corporate AIX system infrastructure Lead in designing the AIX system architecture for installed and proposed systems Be the front-line interface with us and our clients' help desk to accept, resolve or escalate problems to the appropriate system administrators Perform and maintain AIX system and system-related tasks Support DBAs, software developers, production control and end-users Must be available to handle 24 x 7 on call duties on a rotational basis Experience: Strong inter-personal and communication skills: capable of explaining simple procedures in writing or verbally; good phone skills. Capable of training users in applications and UNIX fundamentals Ability to write basic system and user documentation Possess the ability to work with a diverse high-performance team Strong skills levels with most AIX v5.x system administration tools, commands and utilities. Configuration of multiple logical subsystems utilizing IBM HMC, including LPAR configuration, NIM and CSM to install and manage the LPAR Proficient knowledge in Advanced POWER Virtualization on IBM P5 System Strong skills levels in UNIX performance using BMC Perform/Patrol Performance Tuning UNIX security fundamentals and perform account administration using ITAMOS Tivoli security products Good working knowledge of HACMP v5.x Provide direct support for storage administration of IBM 2105 ESS, FAStT and SAN Fibre director Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) and LTO library Ability to write functional scripts in an administrative language (Shell, Perl) Project management skills and operational procedures Must be well acquainted with IBM?s pSeries product line Qualifications: Bachelor?s degree preferred and 8+ years of IBM AIX system administration experience Desirable: Degree in Computer Science or certificate in computer science or related field Some programming experience in an applicable language like C Previous experience in customer support, computer operations, system administration, or another technical related area send resume to: To Apply to this job go to http://www.GadBall.com or click here
