Our Client, a major financial services organization, is looking for a Business/Data Analyst for a consulting role in their New York City location. This is for the IFRS Conversion Program - Product Control IT (PC IT).
IFRS Conversion Program at CS has been established to ensure readiness for January 2010 adoption. IFRS will be accepted / mandatory basis for accounting in all countries and CS Group in 2010. PC IT project team is being mobilized to support this initiative and deliver short-term as well as longer-term strategic solutions.
Responsibilities:
Role involves leveraging solid business analysis and data skills to support the IFRS Conversion program. This individual will work closely with the Product Control (PC) and Financial Accounting (FA) clients to understand requirements, interface with multiple development teams to obtain required data from numerous systems and review and manipulate data as appropriate to satisfy business requests or to assist with defining solutions for 2010 compliance. This role will entail liaising with business units and IT groups to gather, document, analyze and communicate the needs and requirements of the business users. Project management responsibilities are also entailed in the position to participate in project planning sessions and to manage deliverables across various groups within a specific time frame. Role will be tasked with performing quality assurance testing of the data content prior to releasing to clients.
- Facilitate analysis across business units to determine key process, systems and data differences between US GAAP and IFRS .
- Support PC and FA for Comparisons and Restatement throughout 2009 including data mining requirements.
- Define the data required by PC and FA to support the Restatement analysis.
- Identify the IT support required to source, manage and analyze the data.
- Partner with the business and IT colleagues to develop short-term Financial Reporting solutions for Q1 2010 notably Day 1 P&L, Fair Value Measurement, Posting Engine / Logic changes and financial instrument disclosures.
- Partner with the business and IT colleagues to develop longer term Financial Reporting solutions (including FSI alignment).
Experience: Required Experience/Skills:
- Strong understanding of PC and FA processes and systems.
- Strong knowledge of financial products.
- Solid business analysis experience.
- Solid project management experience.
- Proven track record working within an Investment Banking Financial data related environment.
- Experienced in use of Excel, Access and /or other data aggregation / manipulation tools.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment under tight timelines.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to identify issues, recognize root causes and take appropriate action or recommend possible scenarios to solve problems.
- A self starter, the candidate must be able to demonstrate a strong track record of working both independently and within a team, using one's own initiative to provide robust and timely solutions.
- Ability to manage own work plan and schedule to successfully meet goals with tight deadlines and minimal supervision.
- Flexibility and openness to change.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Experience/Skills:
- Prior experience on US GAAP and / or IFRS projects a plus.
