Experienced database programmer/architect to create/manage the database that supports a number of financial applications, including fixed income, equities, portfolio risk and/or prime brokerage applications. The developer will be responsible for database design, data migration, stored procedures, and other utilities that allow applications to efficiently use this shared database. Partner with internal clients and developers to gather business requirements in order to develop conceptual, logical and physical database models and translate these business requirements into functional models.

Skills:
5-10 years experience with relational databases in a financial environment. Strong Sybase, UDB/DBA, Oracle, and/or SQL Server. Relational data modeling methodologies including data normalization/de-normalization. Business analysis, data modeling, logical and physical database design, data acquisition analysis and design. Data modeling skills (Erwin). Knowledge of UNIX/LINUX scripting languages, including Perl. Basic java /jdbc skills. Knowledge of Extract/Transform/Load (ETL) tools and their architecture would prove valuable. Experience with message based transactional applications/xml is a big plus. Strong verbal & written skills required to interact with business clients. Candidate must have some experience within the financial industry. Ability to troubleshoot / follow a methodical approach to problem resolution. Highly motivated, analytical thinking individual. Can successfully operate as a team member as well as independently.
