PERL PROGRAMMER
The Perl programmer position involves both new development and maintenance of our backend systems. We write and maintain everything from large Object Oriented applications to small scripts that make our data flow smoothly. The ideal candidate will have some experience packaging modules and have an understanding of testing. All code runs in a Linux environment, so Linux expertise is essential. Most code will touch a database at some point, so SQL experience using the DBI/DBD::mysql module is required. A thorough knowledge of MySQL 5.[01] would be a huge bonus.
Required skills:
* OO Perl >= 5.8.6 (5+ yrs)
* Database interaction/design (MySQL preferred)
* Knowledge of database structures and architecture
* Complex query skills
* Understanding of data normalization
* Linux, any flavor (5+ yrs)
* Understanding of networking protocols and client/server applications
* Experience working with large volumes of data
* Must be able to work with a minimum amount of supervision
* Familiarity with CPAN and module packaging methods
* Subversion/CVS (SVN preferred)
Desirable Skills:
* Shell scripting
* EDI
