Non-Technical PM with Health Insurance or other insurance Industry experience required.
Experience: This position reports through Corporate Operations, and works in conjunction with IT project managers when necessary (this is NOT a technical PM requirement). The ideal candidate will be able to manage 2 - 4 concurrent projects at various stages, and will be tasked with managing to sometimes tight implementation dates.
Works with business partners to identify and implement small to medium projects, as defined by client methodology, that support achievement of simple to complex unit or corporate goals. Manage multiple projects of varying sizes and duration including large projects from a global perspective that incorporates both the business and technical aspects of the project. Demonstrates the ability to identify key people to bring about change and understands underlying cultural dynamics to develop a network of contacts and target specific people to achieve project goals and objectives. Possesses awareness of significant contributing factors to manage project change, demonstrates a solid understanding of the end to end business processes and the critical IT dependencies as well as knowledge of additional business and corporate needs.

Duties:

Provide strategic direction for developing project plans specifying goals, strategy, staffing, scheduling, identification of risks, contingency plans, and allocation of available resources
Defines project approach and timeline and aligns initiatives to enterprise objectives, project approach and timeline
Defines staffing requirements and manages multiple enterprise project resources including budget, expense and FTE's
Identifies and manages potential issues and risks across enterprise level projects
Anticipate and resolve project issues or risks, removing barriers, creating and implementing contingency plans, and escalating issues to ensure the project is delivered on time and within budget.
Reviews project deliverable schedule, milestones, and required tasks and provide any changes and additions needed to be made for enterprise level projects
Assigns duties, responsibilities and scope of authority to project personnel for projects or projects spanning multiple functional areas
Coordinates activities of the business unit and develops and maintains relationships with the customers for enterprise projects. Ensures the business needs and objectives are met by the project.
Manages project scope to ensure business needs are met and the project scope as defined in the project charter is delivered, identifying, documenting and raising requests for changes from original specifications. Identifies strategic changes from original specifications across enterprise projects.
Communicate plans, status, and issues within the team, group, or project, including both IT and business members, and executive management. Serves as the primary point of communication for the project.
Leads the effort in creative approaches to problem solving and quality deliverables supporting business needs for projects
Monitors project documentation to ensure compliance with corporate standards for projects.
Assume responsibility for in flight high risk, troubled projects and successfully mitigate outstanding risks and proactively address additional risks.
Actively involved in the mentoring and training of other Project Managers and in creating training materials, activities and plans.
Designs and provides guidance around the structure and creation of the document repository for projects. Posts documents to the project repository.
Required Skills
Requires a BA/BS in a related field; Minimum of 9 years professional project management experience required during which at least 7 years are spent leading and directing large project tasks, or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. Masters in related field preferred. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
