Teradata-Oracle DBA Analyst in New York, NY

74386 My client is looking for a Teradata-Oracle DBA Analyst

In this role, you will be a key player in the gathering and analyzing of system related resource usage data for the use of Performance and Capacity planning for at least two database environments.

You will install, configure, and upgrade Oracle/Teradata server hardware, software, and related products. You will establish and maintain sound backup and recovery policies and procedures. You will implement and maintain database security (create and maintain users and roles, assign privileges). You will plan for growth and changes of the databases (capacity planning).
You will identify key thresholds and bottlenecks that could impact system performance. You will prepare detailed specifications from which you will design, code and test all DB SQL/BTEQ scripts, and utilities. You must be competent to work on database design modeling and implementation to meet the needs of application enhancements and other project deliverables as assigned. Propose and explain alternative solutions when possible. Competently participate in after hours support rotation.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a DBA or similar role working with the Teradata database and Oracle 8i and 9i database.
Take responsibility for the day-to-day operational support of the Teradata DW and Oracle DB and their environments.
UNIX scripting & Teradata utilities experience required.
Erwin/AllFusion Data Modeler.
Communication skills with operations and users.
Experience with retail environment is a plus. Experience with SQL-Server, and Windows is a plus.
C++, VB or .NET coding is a plus.
Microstrategy skills a plus.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent combination of course work/job experience.

Ability to interface with all levels of staff.
Must be flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Architect Skills.
Performance tuning/explain plans.
Perform Database Loads, Backups, and Recoveries using Fastload, Multiload, Archmain, and NetVault.
A working knowledge of UNIX OS, preferably NCR's MPRAS, HP UX. Understanding of Data Modeling and use of Modeling Tools a plus, i.e. Erwin, AllFusion Data Modeler.
