Sr. Software Engineer - PERL in Albany, NY

Job Description:

Essential Duties:
* Using Perl, create new designs to handle ever-changing needs for data sharing and expansion of Editors* tools
* Teaming with Production department in adapting to new designs and site needs.
* Taking lead on projects, working with Editors and Production to deliver specific needs while keeping the door open for general purpose usage across our network.
* Working directly with our pool of In-House Editors to attend to any problems with websites in real-time
* Becoming proficient with all of our systems, making you a valuable member of our very small, experienced team of engineers.

Qualification Requirements:
* 3+ years Experience with all of the following:
Perl
Apache/Mod_Perl
Oracle and MySQL
Linux
XML parsing and generation
Data transformations (file and database) using ad-hoc scripting
HTML, Javascript
UNIX shell skills must be very strong.
* Critical thinker who can think two steps ahead during an initial project meeting and
challenge assumptions when appropriate to head off problems
* Good verbal and written communication skills
* Good organizational and interpersonal skills
* Meticulous and comfortable with maintenance development
* Ability to work well in a team and individually

Education
Bachelors Degree in computer science or relevant 4 year degree
