A well known Investment Bank based out of New York City is looking for a Software Trainer with financial industry experience. Within the Research IT team, the job of Application Trainer represents one of the key roles in our overall delivery strategy. The Research IT team is primarily an application development team, in which computer programmers create software systems that meet the needs of the Research business. These systems provide various levels of automation around the document publication pipeline that the business uses to create and distribute its products. Trainer needs to work with the developers on the team in order to fully understand, and learn to operate, our suite of applications. Once a sufficient level of expertise is built, the trainer will conduct presentations to the intended business users of the applications in order to educate them in proper usage. Sometimes training is administered to a large group, sometimes a small group, and other times to an individual. Sometimes training is one-off in nature, other times periodic. Part of a trainer's job is creating documentation to act as application tutorials and guidebooks. Here, writing skills are employed to great effect. An effective application trainer will offer excellent communication skills in the English language, in both verbal and written form. He or she must be able to explain complicated subjects clearly such that users of different levels of computer literacy can absorb the lessons they will need in order to execute their own job functions. Experience: 3-5 years of training experience in the financial industry is required in order to understand how to manage expectations of investment banking clients and communicate on all levels of personnel. A technical writing background would assist in the creating of training manuals and associated presentation documents. Ability to analyze data and translate meeting notes into usable information and technical guidelines or requirements. A good trainer is patient, but also focused on making steady progress. Organizational skills are also of paramount importance. Follow up skills are very important. A trainer is expected to arrange the logistics of each training session, including time/date scheduling, venue, audio/visual aids, on-line information sharing, etc. Candidates are required to have familiarity with common tools, such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, and Webex experience is highly desirable.
