This position will act as a liaison between the business units and IT utilizing relationship management to effectively manage business demands and expectations for Corporate strategic, departmental, and IT initiated projects. This position will be responsible for gathering requirements from business owners (which may include senior or executive level management), documenting those requirements using standard document templates, communicating risks/contingencies to project managers, consulting with technical development staff to clarify business requirements and participating in design and demonstration sessions with technical and business staff. This position requires a balance between exceeding customer expectations and providing the business with realistic feedback on scope, schedule and budget. Under the direction of a Manager, this position will ensure that software systems are properly integrated in support of business goals and objectives. Primary Job Duties: Build strong relationships with both business and technical staff. 25% Understand business strategies and processes and apply strategic, business and technical skills to major corporate initiatives in a collaborative team environment. 25% Provide an analytical assessment of current state of business functions and gathering of system requirements, which could include the documentation of functional requirements and the recommendation of a future desired state. Thinks strategically but plans tactically. 25% Participate in software systems analysis, system design and implementation activities throughout the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC), which may include designing business solutions that link disparate processes and application systems. รข€" 15% Recommend process improvement changes 10% Experience: Primary Skills/Knowledge: Minimum two-year college degree in Information Systems or related field. A four-year degree in Information Systems or related field is preferred. Expected minimum of 6 years professional Information System experience and 4 years work in a Business Analyst, IT Analyst, or Systems Analyst or related position. Information technology knowledge and demonstrated system analysis and design skills. Advanced knowledge of programming languages and (testing) tools a plus. Broad knowledge of health insurance business applications and IT systems preferred. Demonstrated ability to function in a leadership and consulting capacity. Expert level of skill utilizing Microsoft Office tools including Visio and Project. Experience using an off-the-shelf requirements gathering tool a plus. Demonstrated use of project management skills including strong follow-up, meeting facilitation and risk assessment. Project Management Certification a plus. Self-motivated, detail oriented multi-tasker able to meet deadlines. Actively participate on or lead several projects at the same time as an enterprise visionary. Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with minimal supervision. Work closely with business staff to understand their processes, procedures, politics, culture and focus on business process improvement opportunities as well as identify areas for additional training needs and opportunities. Conversely, this close relationship will foster an understanding of IT's role and encourage collaboration with business staff to research industry trends and best practices in both processes and technologies. Previous participation with technical teams on system analysis and design including systems integration projects between disparate systems Technical Certification a plus. Demonstrated experience in the creation and maintenance of detailed specifications used by others to implement requested functionality. Previous experience in using requirements best practices a plus. Demonstrated critical thinking skills are a must. Assist management with writing proposals, contract or statements of work review. Ability to provide feedback identifying possible budget impacts (e.g., hardware, consulting, training). Communication - Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of the organization (technical and non-technical) and with outside contractors and vendors as well as listen to, understand and acknowledge other points of view. Exhibits professional demeanor and interpersonal skills. Maintains neutrality when resolving conflicting IT and business issues. Understand existing systems and technology as well as evaluate new and emerging technologies. Ensures compliance with IT SDLC methodologies, policies, and procedures.
