Our client is seeking a lead Oracle DBA for a position in the Administrative Systems Group, a sub-group in the Department of Information Technology. The selected candidate, under the direction of the Director of Administrative Systems, will play a key support role in the Oracle implementation. The lead DBA will work with and support a small group of database programmer analysts, who are experienced in Informix and DB2 databases among others, but new to the Oracle environment. The successful Oracle DBA will assist the department and support the Director of Administrative Systems in project planning, database upgrading and administration and the designing of and planning for supplemental Oracle based applications. Major technical duties will include, but are not limited to: - Installation and upgrades of Oracle products and application software - Provide database design and implementation for both primary and ancillary projects, including detailed documentation. - Management of database storage and performance including implementation of database tuning for maximum efficiency. - Establishment of database security and user access controls. - Development of a detailed backup and recovery solution utilizing Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN). - Development of and oversight of adherence to cross-application technical standards. - Implementation and oversight of data import/export, data conversions, and database patch applications. - Diagnosis and troubleshooting of database issues. - Performing or serving lead role when complex design, analysis, development, installation, and maintenance is required for support and/or expansion of applications. - Ensure provisioning of backup for DBAs for all Oracle based applications supported. Specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: ? General: Providing Oracle DBA support for establishing, upgrading, and maintaining the Oracle software environments for the Datatel Colleague system and related auxiliary applications. Work in conjunction with Network and Administrative Systems Unix support staff for system related issues in support of Datatel Colleague and the Oracle environment. ? Vendor Relations: Work effectively and efficiently with vendor?s implementation and consulting staff personnel as needed. ? Project and Long Term Planning: Working with the Administrative Systems DBA and programmer analyst team, the Datatel Colleague Technical Support Project Team, project and internal teams, to plan for and provide all DBA tasks in support of implementing and maintaining all Oracle based applications.

Experience: Bachelor?s degree from an accredited institution, preferably in an Information or Computer Science field. Master?s degree preferred. Must have at least three (4) years Oracle database administration experience. Capable of working effectively in a ?Team Oriented? technical environment. Must have current experience with SQL, PL/SQL, and Oracle 9i and 10g. Must have experience with data import/export, data conversions, and database patch applications. Also, must: - Have excellent oral and written communications skills in order to communicate effectively with staff and clients (end-users) of varying technical expertise, as well as with vendor representatives. - Have experience in installing, upgrading and providing production support for Oracle/UNIX-based applications in a HP-UX environment. - Have experience in Oracle DBA support for multiple, complex applications. - Be capable of successfully working / leading multiple tasks and projects, concurrently. - Have expert knowledge of and substantive experience with UNIX shell scripts required to manage an Oracle environment. - Have strong organizational skills ? being able to plan, coordinate, and track tasks effectively with a demonstrated history of meeting project deadlines. - Be able to work independently, as necessary, to solve problems with minimal supervision. - Be capable of mentoring less experienced Oracle DBAs. - Be on-call nights and weekends for database issues that may arise. Desirable: - Experience with Datatel Colleague applications and interfaces. - Relevant professional experience in a higher education environment. - OCP certification. - Knowledge of Oracle Enterprise Manager. - Knowledge of Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN) For consideration, please forward a copy of your resume to .
