Director of Store Systems in New York, NY

The Director is responsible for providing systems (tools and processes) to support the day to day activities as well as the strategic goals of the Stores organization.

Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with the leaders of the business area supported.
  • Understand the flow of information/data through the business and systems that you support.
  • Establish and manage relationships with software vendors and service providers to encourage partnership and maximize quality of support.
  • Fully leverage the tools that we have in place to maximize our investment.
  • Understand the tools (software packages, devices, etc.) available on the market that support your business. Stay informed of new tools and technologies.
  • Be able to recognize new opportunities for systems to contribute to business initiatives.
  • Negotiate new business relationships and work with the legal department to negotiate license agreements, services agreements, and maintenance agreements.
  • Manage a team comprised of project manager(s), and programmer-analysts.
  • Assume accountability for the success of ALL projects managed by your team.
  • Provide leadership and mentor your direct reports to help them to succeed at their goals.
  • Fully support the PMO process and other standards as adopted by the IS Department.
  • Provide project management leadership on major projects.
  • Participate in the annual budgeting process.
  • Manage capital budgets established to support your projects.
  • Communicate regularly with business leaders, sponsors, and your manager: the status of active projects, open issues, budget status, and decisions that need to be made.
  • Communicate regularly with your peers to maximize synergy between systems and to coordinate efforts on large projects.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with your peers in Technology Services.
  • Ensure your team follows the department change management process.
  • Evaluate project risks and issues and be able to provide or offer solutions.
  • Responsible for change management as a product of systems implementations.

    Position Requirements:
  • POS Software experience is a must.
  • Store Sysyems is also required.
  • College degree required preferably with a major or minor in Computer Sciences.
  • Minimum of 5 years project management experience in applications or systems programming including staff supervision.
  • Strong experience in analyzing system requirements, including interacting with users to understand business processes, and designing applications to meet those requirements.
  • Knowledge of relational database systems
  • Working knowledge of MS Suite of desktop applications.
  • Ability to work well with people with varying technical abilities
  • Good presentation skills required.
