Our client is a weekly publication focussing on international business and politics. For their offices located in Midtown Manhattan they are seeking a Web Analytics Reporting DBA.
The individual must have an in-depth knowledge of commercial web sites and the types of data used for analysis of web customers.
The ideal candidate should have work experience either as a DBA or developer within a team that develops and supports commercial web sites, experience more focussed on data modelling, experience using enterprise level reporting tools and previous experience with data warehousing.
Key Skills Include:
? Data modelling
? OLAP development
? Business Intelligence reporting tool such as Cognos
? Experience with batch interfaces between applications
? Expert SQL and PL/SQL skills - including query optimization and debugging in an Oracle 10g environment
? Good knowledge of at least one SQL development tool such as SQL*Navigator or TOAD
? Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
? Experience with Dart Mail e-mail would be helpful
? Ability to translate, often unstructured, customer requirements into system specifications
? Plan work and manage time appropriately
? Clarity of thought and judgement
? Excellent analysis and problem solving skills
? Must be able to quickly understand complicated schemas
SUMMARY PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
? Write reports using customer information and behavioural data from the web sites databases.
? Help analysts use report writing tools and get the data they need.
? Manage the integrity and structure of web site customer data.
? Manage the integrity and structure of the customer e-mail databases
? Manage the interface between web site databases and the marketing e-mail databases.
? Perform data modelling, design and manage the schema of any reporting databases which are created.
? Work closely with and assist our web site DBA
ACCOUNTABLE FOR:
? The availability and accuracy of reports requested by analysts
? The integrity of the interfaces between the web site database and other customer databases.
? Automation of routine tasks where appropriate.
? The accuracy of the data in the e-mail databases
? The data structures in the e-mail databases
? Understanding and supporting external web site reporting tools: SurfAid and Insight First
? Writing reports from web logs, currently Web Trends.
? Administration of any reporting tools which may be chosen to be used against our current databases.
? Creating data dictionaries to make data available to analysts
? Designing and approving new data fields and tables which will be used for reporting purposes
? Tuning and performance of reporting queries and related DBA activities
? Administration of reporting databases
? Creating cubes for use in OLAP tools
