Our client, a well established downtown-based publishing company, has an immediate need for an experienced Java Software Engineer to join their team on a long term consulting basis. This project involves the conversion of legacy web development systems, currently a ColdFusion environment, into new Java-based systems, enterprise-wide. The Java Software Engineer will be responsible for the maintenance, development and upgrade of existing applications as well as development of new applications utilizing Eclipse as a development tool. The Java Engineer will utilize Hibernate as a mapping tool as well as the Spring framework to develop successful Java applications. The Java development environment includes a MySQL, SQL Server back-end and Tomcat web applications sever. The Java Software Engineer will work closely with the open-source development team which utilizes extensive PHP in a Linux environment.

-2+ years of experience developing Java applications is absolutely required.
-Experience using Eclipse, Hibernate and Spring framework when developing Java applications is strongly desired.
-Development experience with and server side application experience with Tomcat and Apache is a plus.
-Back-end exposure to MySQL is required, and SQL Server a plus.
-Exposure to PHP, ColdFusion development in a Linux environment not required but is considered a plus.
-Strong communication skills a must.
