Software Engineer
Overview:
This position is for is a leading email marketing and customer intelligence company. Strong open-source based technology and impassioned people drive our best of breed application solutions, drawing household name clients from every industry to execute their marketing campaigns and leverage our advanced targeting, personalization and analytical capabilities. We are looking for someone who likes to be challenged with programming tasks as well as data forensics. This will be a chance to participate in building a growing company.
We are looking for Software Engineers for our New York City (Manhattan) and Los Angeles (El Segundo) offices with a Unix/Linux background and expert knowledge of Perl for both Perl application interface development as well backend data-processing. Knowledge of C, shell scripting, and javascript are desirable. Our development process is not fully formalized and requires developers to wear several hats at times and be involved from analysis and design through testing, implementation and support of live systems.
General database knowledge including SQL is a must and more experience, especially in Oracle/MySQL is desirable. Applicants must be self-motivated, organized, able to communicate with internal clients, and have the ability to both complete projects independently as well as work on small teams.
Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities of the Software Engineer are:
* Work with developers to release new versions of our software product.
* Install, update, and manage versioning information as well as release documents for the software.
* Help in the maintenance of the software at various locations.
* Work closely with engineers and client service personnel to develop the software roadmap for the product.
* Help research data to help clients gain a better understanding of data collected on their web sites.
Requirements:
The primary requirements for the Software Engineer are:
* BS degree in computer science, engineering, or mathematics
* 2+ yrs. in software engineering
* 2+ yrs. working with Linux required (Debian preferred)
* Proven skills in SQL database programming
* Use of scripting languages like Python or Perl
* Experience with C, shell scripting, javascript, XML, Apache, and Oracle are preferred
* Experience managing software installations
* Experience with CVS, Subversion or other versioning software
* Strong written and spoken communication skills
Compensation:
* Base ($50K - $100K) depending on experience
