Experience: Specific Responsibilities:
Develops and maintains a standard method of capturing performance requirements from infrastructure components and develop test plans and tests that validate system performance consistent with business service level requirements.
Develops and maintains a performance and capacity data store for the purpose of trending and managing growth and performance of business services.
Determines the infrastructure components that are drivers of system performance and investigates the system infrastructure to determine which parts need improvement to support future growth (ex; cpu, memory, I/O).
Defines the overall process by which capacity and performance data is captured, reduced and processed at component level for capacity planning business services.
Performs statistical studies on data to understand how the evolution of workload affects the infrastructure. This data is used in updating the capacity management plan.
Acts as third tier production support to IT Operations in identifying and analyzing system performance problems.
Reports capacity and performance metrics to senior management on a quarterly basis in both written and verbal presentation. This enables senior management to understand required investments necessary to support service levels.
Provides input to the capital budget based on future capacity plans and required growth.
Assists the solution design teams to insure that the IT solution designs are scalable and perform Paychex business requirements.
Manage consistent with IT Information Library (ITIL) framework for Capacity Management.
. Requirements: BS in Computer Science or related field. 8+ years experience in IT capacity management, ITIL experience or certification a plus.
Ability to think creatively
Diverse technical background (i.e. platform, network, applications) with strong performance analysis experience
Strong organizational and planning skills, project management experience a plus
Strong written and oral communication abilities
The ability to effectively operate within business and IT forums working with peers and management of all levels.
The ability to facilitate and lead technologist
