Job description: <br><p>
seeking a part-time SQL Server database administrator to work 20-24 hours per week on-site during regular business hours. The Financial & HR Systems DBA is responsible for the planning, maintenance and development of my clients HR/Payroll, CARLOS, ACT, Raiser's Edge and Financial Edge databases. The DBA is responsible for ensuring that:<br><p>
• data remains consistent across the database; <br><p>
• data is clearly defined;
<br><p>• users access data concurrently, in a form that suits their needs; <br><p>
• there is provision for data security and recovery control (all data is retrievable in an emergency).<br><p>
Responsibilities:<br><p>
• Manage organizational data definitions & process-flows to ensure consistency, security and accuracy of Financial, personnel (including ACT Contact Management and Archival Orchestra records) and fundraising data<br><p>
• Write database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary ('metadata')<br><p>
• Maintain data standards, including adherence to the Data Protection Act<br><p>
• Controlling access permissions and privileges<br><p>
• Ensuring that storage, archiving, backup and recovery procedures are functioning correctly
<br><p>• Database development:
o planning dataflows for a new or revised databases<br><p>
o mapping out the 'conceptual design' for a planned database in outline<br><p>
o considering both 'back end' organization of data and 'front end' accessibility for end users<br><p>
o refining the 'logical design' so that it can be translated into a specific data model<br><p>
o further refining the 'physical design' to meet system storage requirements
<br><p>• Data migration
<br><p>• Testing new systems<br><p>
• Other duties as assigned by the Associate IT Director & IT Director<br><p>
Experience: Requirements: <br><p>
3 years SQL 2000/2005 database administration<br><p>
• Experience with Open Insight/Revelation software is a plus<br><p>
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills<br><p>
• Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage changing priorities<br><p>
• Proven effectiveness and ease in working in a collaborative environment with multiple stakeholders<br><p>
• Proven ability to be flexible and work hard, both independently and in a team environment, in a high pressure on-call environment with changing priorities<br><p>
• BA/BS, or equivalent experience, in Computer Science or other technical discipline<br><p>
