May perform one or more of the following:


IP, DHCP, Operates data communication systems, including LANs and/or WANs.

Plans, designs and implements networked systems, including configurations, and supports/troubleshoots network problems

Proposes and implements system enhancements (software and hardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliability of the system.

Designs, analyzes, plans, and modifies network components supporting customer communication implementation activities.

Develops and evaluates network performance criteria and measurement methods.

Prepares the analysis of the capacity needs for switching, routing transmission and signaling.

Conducts network architecture design, feasibility and cost studies.

All other duties as assigned.

As a senior level individual contributor, this position is part of a 6 person team responsible for Maintenance, Support, Trouble Resolution, Root Cause Analysis and SLA maintenance for a large, enterprise wide LAN / WAN environment in Tarrytown, NY. In addition to daily SLA compliance and routine break-fix duties, this position will develop and manage small projects to enhance & expand the network, including cost analysis, detailed design, project planning, implementation, detailed documentation and cross-training of peers. The selected individual must demonstrate excellent customer service & team building skills and will be required to routinely interact directly customers, to serve as a technical mentor within the team, and to participate in & foster a “team environment.” This position will frequently be called upon to diagnose difficult network performance problems and interact with application support teams to diagnose network / application performance issues. This position operates in a 7x24x365 SLA driven environment, requiring rotating on-call duty, flexible work hours (off-hours for network maintenance & scheduled downtime, participation in rotating schedules of early (6am), late (7pm), and weekend (2-3 days per quarter) required on-site coverage.

Education and Typical Years of Experience:
Demonstrated, in-depth, LAN / WAN support & engineering experience (7+ years)

Experience in supporting large, complex LAN / WAN networks in a large, enterprise environment

Superior knowledge, skills & experience with Cisco routing hardware, software, protocols, etc.
Superior knowledge, skills & experience with Cisco switching hardware, software, protocols, etc.

Strong working knowledge of structured cabling systems, network facilities, electrical, UPS, etc.

In-depth experience and talent in using packet / protocol analyzers to find and remedy application and network performance issues

Ability to work alone as an individual contributor, as a technical lead when required, and as a participant in a team environment

Positive, proactive, “can do” attitude
Willingness to participate in rotating schedules and share on-call duties

Ability to respond to on-call / on-site situations in Tarrytown NY within required SLA parameters (1 hr max drive time)

Specific Requirements:
POSITION REQUIRES PROFESSIONAL ENTERPRISE LEVEL EXPERIENCE IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS TO BE CONSIDERED.

College degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering (or related technical degree)

Relevant technical certifications (CCNP,CCIE etc)

DNS administration experience
