Job Description

This role is a senior-level technical engineering position responsible for the design, implementation, management, and monitoring of the corporate network environment, the IP Telephony infrastructure, and network security infrastructure. The Sr. Network Engineer analyzes business data flow to/from corporate systems and designs local and wide-area network architectures that meet throughput and performance requirements.

The successful candidate MUST HAVE a deep understanding of network and voice protocols, MUST HAVE solid understanding of data center power, cooling and cabling infrastructure, and MUST HAVE experience working at the Service Level, supporting high volume.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Qualified candidates must possess the ability to:
Lead the design and implementation of network infrastructure improvements
Configure and maintain SANs
Configure and maintain all routers and switches
Configure and maintain all firewall hardware and software
Configure and maintain all VPN hardware and software
Configure and maintain all load balancing hardware and software
Monitor all network systems to optimize performance and to initiate
avoidance actions for potential system failures
Design, implement, test and manage production Network and Telephony environments
Develop processes and tools to pro actively monitor all IP Telephony and Network infrastructure to ensure performance and high availability
Assess utilization trends and make appropriate design and implementation recommendations to scale the architecture
Plan and manage all aspects of Network and Telephony related projects
Assist Operations system administrators with their tasks, when necessary
Provide 24x7 on-call support and escalation to Network and Telephony carriers

Skills
-

4 year college degree or equivalent work experience
7+ years experience as a Sr. Network Engineer
2 years Network Security Administrator experience
Cisco CCNP or higher level certification
Demonstrable knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols, multicast, MPLS and VPN concepts voice protocols
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work within a team environment
Outstanding problem-solving skills
Excellent Change Control Management


Desired Technology Skills:
- Network hardware: Cisco routers, firewalls switches, Load Balancers
- Internet routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, ISIS, EIGRP, RIP, IGRP
- Security: IPSec, VPN, L2TP, PPTP, TLS/SSL, Digital Certificates, IPS/IDS, SSH, RADIUS, TACACS+
- Other protocols: HSRP, ICMP, tcp/udp, MPLS, SIP/SDP, STUN, H322, STP,
- Network analysis: Wireshark/EtheReal, ClearSight, Kismet
- Softswitch/Gateways: Session Controllers/Proxies, Media Gateways SER/OpenSER, Asterisk, Cisco CallManager/Unity, Metaswitch,

Extensive knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols, multicast, MPLS and VPN concepts

The candidate will be expected to demonstrate this knowledge in a working environment during an interview.

Strong working knowledge of Sniffer, Wild Packets, SolarWinds and/or other brand name protocol analyzers. The candidate will be expected to demonstrate this knowledge in a working environment during an interview.

Strong working knowledge & experience with f5 Big IP Load Balancers. Certification preferred.

Working knowledge of Firewall software such as Checkpoint, NetScreen, or Cisco PIX.
