We have an immediate need for a Deployment/Support Specialist.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The deployment/support specialist will be responsible for work that supports the planning, preparation, and complete deployment of the configured and populated SESIS application to school sites. The Deployment Specialist will report to the Implementation Lead and will be responsible for the following tasks:
-Gather information on current deployment practices.
-Prepare the deployment plan for each SESIS release including the development of policies, templates and processes for various system service packs, patches and upgrades.
-Create a school activation plan for each release.
-Develop deployment package requirements for various system workstreams.
-Identify any issues that prevent schools from deployment.
-Analyze data and information to determine system gaps and need for enhancements.
-Prepare all plans necessary to remediate identified gaps.
-Prepare deployment completion criteria reports.
-Support staff to develop a help desk (end user support) plan.
-Manage the help desk operations and collaborate with various subcontractors to timely resolve systemic problems and application issues.
-Coordinate system infrastructure activities with the hosting. vendor and perform regular, back-end maintenance activities
-Create snapshot databases and provide pro-active support to end-users during regulatory reporting time.
-Deal with researching and resolving complex technical issues arising out of using SESIS.
EXPECTED PERFORMANCE GOALS:
-Perform work that supports deployment and end user support for the TIENET implementation.
-Support the consistent communicate of deployment and end user support strategy to appropriate staff.
-Manage, train and support end user support specialists.
-Interact with client regarding deployment and end user support strategy, development and execution.
-Contribute to project profitability.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
-Bachelors degree (masters degree preferred) from an accredited college or university in Technology, Business, Education, Special Education, Curriculum and Instruction or related field.
-At least two years of experience with software delivery and release to production in the fault-tolerant, distributed computing environment.
-In depth knowledge of installing and upgrading software systems and applications including Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) products.
-Must possess a high level of comfort with the Windows operating system (experience with Macintosh OS a plus).
-Must be very familiar with hand-coding HTML (not using a WYSIWYG editor) and have a basic knowledge programming/scripting concepts: JavaScript knowledge a plus.
-Knowledge of both database systems and special education a plus.
-General problem solving and system troubleshooting skills are essential.
-Good time management and documentation skills are necessary.
-Ability to manage system deployment process.
-Ability to speak effectively in both group and individual situations.
-Ability to learn technical concepts quickly and in turn, teach these concepts to others.
-Ability to manage others.
-Ability to produce written and electronic deployment materials.
-Good organizational skills.
-Ability to perform comfortably in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented work environment.
-Ability to successfully execute many complex tasks simultaneously.
-Ability to work as a team member, as well as independently.
-Primary work is for the NYC Board of Education, located in Brooklyn, NY.
-Ability to travel.
