Large Investment Bank located in lower Manhattan is seeking a Linux/Unix Systems Administrator for an IB Message Bus project. Build RedHat Linux infrastructure. Work with architecture team, PM, DBA, MQ Engg on project deliverables.
. On Completion of project responsible for the Day-to-Day maintenance of Linux infrastructure.
. Respond and resolve helpdesk Linux/Unix support tickets.
. Monitor infrastructure using provided monitoring tools.
. Provide Onsite and Offsite (On Call) support.
. Escalate issues to Vendor support / provide root cause / incident reports.
. Participate in weekend Project / BAU / AdHoc tasks.
. 24x7x365 operation
. Strong knowledge of Service Delivery and Client management.
. Provide technical leadership and guidance to staff and other business partners to promote operational excellence.
. Champion continuous process improvement, performance management, and metrics-driven results
Experience: Good exp supporting Linux in a large-scale (300+ servers) environment.
Good exp managing hardware like IBM Bladecenter, other x86 hardware from IBM ( x366) , HP (DL585), Dell (5860).
Must possess excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
Must have experience with Kickstart, RPM packaging (Linux), Jumpstart for Solaris and VMWare.
Must have a good working knowledge or experience in Cisco switches and Routers.
Strong scripting skills in Perl, awk, sed, Korn Shell. Good understanding of SMTP, NIS, DNS, QIP,
NFS, KEON. LDAP Must be extremely knowledgeable in use of Veritas tools (NetBackup, File System, Volume Manager, Veritas Cluster Server), including setup, maintenance and troubleshooting.
Must possess a good working knowledge of SAN and NAS.
Strong knowledge of Sun hardware & architecture Familiarity with monitoring tools, specifically Tivoli, desirable.
Strong knowledge of Service Delivery and Client management.
