SENIOR EXCHANGE ENGINEER (5 - 8 years)

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The senior exchange engineer position calls for a highly self-motivated individual with an extensive background in all areas of AD and MS Exchange at an enterprise level. Along with a solid Microsoft background, the ideal candidate must also have experience in consulting. Participation in all phases of the project life cycle is critical. The position requires a "hands on" and proactive approach to keep client systems running at premium Service Level Agreement standards. Additionally, the role demands an individual possessing true leadership skills. The ideal candidate must display expert level skills in business process analysis and documentation, design, development, and implementation of advanced AD and Exchange designs. The ideal candidate will be required to work within a tightly aligned team of 2nd and 3rd level technicians to ensure world class levels of service and unparalleled availability of all exchange and windows servers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
(The position's specific duties, tasks, activities, responsibilities and accountabilities include, but are not limited to:)
. Provide in-depth technical and design expertise on large-scale AD and Exchange projects for enterprise-class clients.
. Work in tandem with high-caliber technical staff, including project managers.
. Assess and recommend AD and Exchange architectural designs/changes to customer systems in response to business or technical drivers.
. Serve as liaison to vendors (e.g. Microsoft, NetIQ) to facilitate problem resolution.
. Subject matter expert for specific technologies (e.g. Directory *Services, Messaging, Build Automation, Monitoring)
. Clearly communicate problem/resolution process to customers or management.
. Project oversight responsibilities and mentoring of other consultants.
. Contribute to written proposals and develop technical documentation.
. Presentation of design and deployment strategies.
. Customer liaison for AD and exchange architecture and design.
. Administration, management, maintenance, support and troubleshooting of an Exchange 2003 organization.
. Patch management, deployment and mitigation for Exchange 2003.
. Automation, improvement and expansion of Exchange 2003 organization.
. Administration of backups, recovery, and disaster recovery.
. Monitoring, metrics, configuration, performance tuning and traffic reporting.
. Development of best practices, including support and training documentation.
. Handle all messaging projects such as mailbox migrations, email separation, testing and planning fro Microsoft exchange

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
. At least 5 - 8 years of pure Systems Engineering experience with a dominant focus on MS Exchange, along with 3 of those years spent in a Consulting Role.
. 5 to 8 years hands-on administration of Exchange 2000/2003 and Active Directory.
. 5 to 8 years of hands-on experience with systems administration in a heterogeneous Windows / Notes, SQL server 2000/2005, SharePoint server 2007environment.
. Blackberry Server (BES).
. A strong familiarity with networking technologies, including TCP/IP, NetBios, MSDS, DHCP, WINS, DNS, SMTP, IMAP4, POP3, OWA, LCS, LDAP, etc.
. A strong knowledge of network and system documentation techniques, including knowledge using Microsoft Visio, and other Microsoft Office products.
. Candidates must interface well with customers, have initiative, and be able to plan and execute projects both individually and as a team member.
. Experience with backup tools such as TDP for Microsoft Exchange or Backup Exec,
. Experience with email archiving systems such as KVS Enterprise Vault or Legato EmailXtender.
. Experience working with Microsoft Cluster Services.
. Experience with anti-spam, anti-virus products and help-desk ticketing systems (Track-It).
. Experience serving as the point of escalation for complex AD and Exchange problem solving.
. Candidate must be a self-motivated team player, able to set priorities and manage to deadlines.
. Candidate must be available to support a 24x7 production environment.
. Candidate must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
. Bachelor/s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
. Possess a solid understanding of Windows-based operating systems and Microsoft Exchange, including knowledge of SMTP, the Windows kernel, Windows registry, Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory and Windows network services.
. Experience with Notes, SharePoint Server 2003/2007
. Experience with Disaster recovery and E-mail replication
. VMWare experience a plus
. demanding users in a high-pressure production environment a must
. Microsoft Certifications (at least one of the following: MS Cert. Architect, MS Cert. IT professional, MCSE )
