The Senior Database Administrator participates in the overall database system architecture and the configuration of the development, testing, demonstration, training and production environments as a 24x7 operation. Candidate must be available to be on-call and be prepared to work outside of normal business hours under certain circumstances.

The Senior Database Administrator will be part of a team that is responsible for capacity planning, performance tuning, business continuity and monitoring. This will include assisting developers with SQL tuning and indexing. The Senior Database Administrator will be a part of decision making as it relates to database system architectures. The Senior Database Administrator will be accountable for maintaining changes across all environments and ensuring databases remain consistent. The Senior Database Administrator will participate in the design and architecture of the database systems as well as policies and procedures relating to security and auditing of database changes. The Senior Database Administrator will be required to maintain documentation of all databases including entity relationship diagrams, data dictionaries and standard operation procedures.

The candidate must have experience in a production service environment; preferably with experience at an Internet or application service provider. The candidate must be able to patiently mentor less experienced team members while fulfilling his or her regular duties. The candidate must be a self-starter who is able to execute tasks with little instruction from his or her manager. The role will be expected to manage their (and possibly less senior resources’) time on technical projects related to database administration.

The Senior Database Administrator will be part of an Engineering team in the Product Operations group. The Product Operations group is tasked with maintaining all environments at their defined support levels. Team members must have a strong customer service attitude, a commitment to completely resolving issues, and accountability for the environments they support.

Experience: • Must have lead medium to large size database administrations project
• Expert Microsoft SQL administration in production application environment (2000/2005)
• Strong understanding of high availability and load balanced solutions
• Strong understanding of Microsoft SQL system data for auditing, troubleshooting and monitoring
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Scripting experience (wsh, perl)
• Understanding of network concepts

Desired Skills

• Experience with Java web and/or Java client-server applications
• Experience with MySQL
• Experience with IBM DB2
