Job Description: Network technician with at least 3 years of experience with switches/routers and LAN/WAN experience. Ideal candidate will have CCNP.
As promised, a very "high-level" of the scope of work (SOW) is:
. Using the console cable (light blue), the tech will back up original Switch (Cisco 2900 or 3500 series) configuration to laptop.
. Once switch configuration is backed up, the tech will disconnect the ethernet cable from the switch to the existing router and reconnect the switch to the new Verizon managed router.
. Once connected to the Verizon router, the tech will work with the Prospect Mortgage Network team to confirm the site is on the network (800 # will be provided)
. Once the site is identified and can be seen by the Prospect Mortgage Network team, the Prospect team will Telnet into the Switch and launch the new Switch configuration script.
. Once successful, the tech will work with the remote Prospect team to identify any rogue equipment and/or identify any LAN related issues and assist where necessary.
. In the event, the new Prospect Mortgage Switch configuration script does not work, we will revert back to original script (saved on Tech laptop) and plug the network cable back into to old router and continue using the existing backbone.
Switch models range from C3560, C2960, and C3550. Primary model is C3560. These switches are currently in production and will need to be erased and reconfigured to support new environment.
Verizon is the new WAN service provider and will be installing managed routers at each of the locations. These routers will provide DHCP services to hosts on the LAN segments. Most locations are flat layer 2 environments, although there are locations that have VOIP (voice & data VLANs) environments. The VoIP environments are layer 3, but there is no routing protocol in use at the switch level. Static routes will be utilized in these cases and on the layer 2 switches for management purposes.
* Switch Naming Convention: First 3 letters of the city_3rd Octet of IP address_Switch type. (i.e. Los Angeles, CA 10.177.24.0/24.. LOS_24_3560
* Domain Name: prospect.com
SSH preferred unless IOS does not support it (then Telnet).
* No routing protocol is at the switch level in layer 3 environments. Static default route to the LAN interface of the WAN router.
* Verizon managed router will provide DHCP services to LAN and lease 10.177.x.0/24
* VoIP environments will have Data VLAN6 SVI 10.177.x.2/24 and Voice VLAN8 SVI 10.178.x.2
* QoS for Voice needs to be configured on switches in VoIP environments.
* Configuration template to be completed by SIGMAnet and Prospect Mortgage engineers - TBD
* Switches will be write erased to remove Indy Mac configs and reconfigured by onsite engineer.
* Rapid Spanning Tree will be used in multi-switch environments.
The technician will be responsible for following:
. Follow a script given by your recruiter at Smartsource
. Call into a toll free number to confirm you are on-site
. Bring a checklist with them to the site
. Call a toll free number when you are done on-site
. Get a signed time-sheet when they get to the site
