Intermediate Software Engineer - 62-09 in New York, NY

OVERVIEW: This firm is currently offering a unique opportunity to work with a small team of software engineers who are re-inventing their customer facing Web presence and Internet applications. This is a chance to be challenged and rewarded while contributing to the growth of a medium sized software development organization. DUTIES: Be a contributing member of a team which designs and builds a variety of Web services and Internet systems. Utilization of standards based, open-source development stacks. Intimate involvement with the department's bug, issue, and version tracking system. Maintain and update all documentation as deemed necessary. Respond to help desk tickets and provide a timely resolution. NECESSARY REQUIREMENTS: Ruby on Rails or comparable language/framework experience such as Python/Dagging, etc. Strong familiarity with PHP. Solid experience with JavaScript, CSS, and strong HTML. Better than a working knowledge of SQL, database design concepts, and MySQL. An above average knowledge of Linux/OSX command-line tools. Experience with bug/issue trackers, wikis, and version control systems. EXTRAS: A MS in computer science or related field. Assistance in the management of development projects with Trac and maintaining solid documentation. Experience building a diverse range of Websites and Web apps in PHP. Developing a rich browser-based app with jQuery, YUI, or Ext. Configuring and managing a Solr or Lucene server. Configuring an nginx Web Server or proxy. Maintaining a git or other DVCS repository.
