Seeking a Technical Writer who will be dedicated to the creation/re-purposing of online and offline documentation. The candidate must have the ability to autonomously run the software package interview in-house users and software personnel to develop a new on-line help facility based on the current operation of the software as well as reorganize and streamline existing reference materials. Responsibilities: . Writes and edits complex technical documentation, including user manuals, job aids, installation instructions, technical instructions/bulletins, and other technical publications from document plans and style guides.. Develops on-line help screens for company products.. Researches technical and engineering information, including drawings, design and test specifications, product prototypes, and interviews with subject matter experts.. Completes all phases of document development cycle, including project scope and requirements, documentation design, etc.. May develop, recommend and implement technical documentation process and policy changes.. Expert knowledge of the following tools: Microsoft Word, Visio and Excel; Adobe Framemaker, Acrobat and Robohelp; and SnagIt. Application of controlled language methods, especially Global English, to facilitate use of documentation by multi-lingual customers and translators. Knowledge of single-source content development methods. Knowledge of indexing methods. Ability to prioritize document release strategies and desktop publishing sequences to accommodate multiple document dependencies for 9 primary manuals and 12 supporting manuals totaling 8000 pages. Support Customer Service requests for specific information as submitted by Software Developers and Consultants. Provide technical editing support for newsletter.
