Job Summary: Software Development Lead applies specific and detailed knowledge of internet applications and World Wide Web technologies to the design and development of complex systems and business tasks. Incumbent provides daily consultation to other programmers and developers in order to facilitate appropriate technical solutions to complex programs and is responsible for training less experienced programmers and analysts. Exercises considerable latitude in decision-making on technical issues surrounding the project; and, exhibits considerable diagnostic skill in solving operational and performance problems related to software and/or systems integration. Essential Job Functions: · Designs/codes/tests/debugs and documents complex computer programs for internet applications written in HTML and ASP with components in Visual Basic and/or C#. · Analyzes complex business problems; producing systems designs and technical design documents to address business needs. · Employs advanced concepts of Microsoft architectures to the design and deployment of multi-tiered business systems. · Writes example programs for use as templates by other team members; reviews progress and evaluates results. · Provides development team configuration management and quality assurance functions. · Ensures the organized integration of team work products into a cohesive, operationally effective product; providing daily mentoring and coaching to improve programmer productivity and the quality of software engineering work products. · Partners with the Project Manager to coordinate the activities of the team to meet project deadlines and resolve the conflicting demands of users. · Assigns project work to individual programmers and monitors work progress on a continuous basis with considerable latitude in establishing and changing work procedures; measuring results and recommending personnel actions. · Participates in formal architectural review of advanced systems and technologies and prepares plans for the adoption of new technology. Education/Experience Requirements: · Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or comparable with nine years of related experience and full technical knowledge of all phases of systems analysis and programming in an internet environment. · Demonstrated development team leadership experience. · Windows NT development experience with strong background in Visual Basic. · Database programming skill in Oracle PL/SQL with ADO. · Experience with web technologies including XML and Microsoft Active Server Pages. · Knowledge of COM, COM+, and Microsoft Transaction Server. · Communications programming expertise including TCP/IP and effective technical communication skills. · Ability to handle several tasks concurrently, well organized and thorough. · Ability to maintain focus in “crisis” situations and to work in fast-paced production internet environment. · Experience in software integration and configuration management in a Microsoft development technology environment. · Experience using an Object Oriented Analysis modeling tool supporting database design and/or UML for system design (e.g. Rational Rose, ERWin). · Proficient in Microsoft Project including ability to plan project schedules and track resource use. · Exceptionally proficient in written technical communication including experience with functional descriptions and technical design documents. Working Conditions: · Work is normally performed in an office environment. · Occasional travel and extended hours may be required.
