The Business Intelligence Developer will develop specifications, design, build, deploy and maintain business intelligence applications using Business Objects for the Company. The Business Intelligence Developer will be expected to manage their own work as well as the work of other project team**s members as needed.
Major Opportunities and Decisions
Develop Business Objects Universes and Reports that consistently run efficiently and without error.
Technical Skills:
** Current intermediate to expert level experience with the full suite of BusinessObjects solutions
** Strong experience with Business Intelligence tools ** extensive experience with Business Objects 6.x and XI r2, Crystal Reports XI, and Xcelsius Dashboard.
** Experience with Universe design and report development in BO. Knowledge of batch processing of Business Objects reports and Broadcast Agent scheduler using SDK in VB, Batch Files. Business Objects Report writing skills, experience with report customization using the BO SDK.
** Experience with Business Object 6.x/XI Server Administration, Installation, patch application, monitoring and performance tuning on Windows Servers.
** Experience in developing and tuning SQL in multiple DBMS platforms including Oracle 9/10g,Teradata V2R5/V2R6, UDB V8 and MS-SQL 2000/2005.
** Understanding of Data Warehouse concepts, tools and repositories. Fundamental knowledge of Data warehouses and reporting technologies on data warehouses, concepts of OLAP reporting and knowledge of dimensional data models.
** Understanding of Data modeling concepts and tools.
** Knowledge and experience with handling performance issues, performance tuning work.
** Contribute to the technical code documentation, functional specification documents and also help and train the business users in creating ad hoc reports.
** Effective analysis of new and existing applications and platforms.
** Efficient coding (i.e. adhering to coding standards, procedures and techniques).
Project Management
** Experience working on projects in a structured environment (i.e. RUP, PMP, CMM).
** Experience working with remote (on shore/off-shore) staff.
** Experience tracking to project plan dates and working aggressively to meeting those dates.
** Experience utilizing programming methodologies and languages.
Communications Skills
** Must have good oral and written communications skills.
** Excellent verbal and written communication skills in dealing with IT and end users.
** Must have the ability to participate in requirements gathering and design meetings.
** Translates technical information to concepts that are understood by the particular audience.
** Clear communication and documentation of technical specifications.
Education and Experience:
** Minimum BA/BS Degree or equivalent experience, preferably in Computer Science.
** Must have a minimum of 6 years overall corporate experience with 3 years as an business intelligence developer performing development, administration, implementation and support in a production environment.
** Experience in a large-scale, insurance industry warehouse is a plus.
** Experience working on large-scale projects that require interaction with multiple groups of small development teams.
