The candidate will manage a team focused on providing DBA support to development and infrastructure teams deploying on Oracle, Sybase and MSSQL. The position demands a high degree of proficiency in the core administrative functions required of an Oracle/Sybase DBA and needs to help define both operational and technology strategy as it relates to database management for the team. The candidate should have significant experience in delivering projects built on the Oracle/Sybase platform and be able to demonstrate their ability to balance development and infrastructure driven priorities.
Primary responsibilities:
Hands on database team manager able to develop, lead, cross-train and motivate a global team of database administrators
Prior experience managing a global dba team of around 40 staff and managing multiple priorities/deliverables concurrently
Prior experience managing a database environment comprised of over 1000 databases supporting multiple business areas
Help develop and execute against a global strategy for database technologies in the firm
Promote consistency, standardization and efficiency within the environments managed
Be responsible for the availability, reliability and performance of all databases that support the Operations and Product Control, Trading Technology services, Banking and Client Intelligence and Corporate Systems.
Execute against key infrastructure deliverables such as end of life retirement, lifecycle management, monitoring improvements, resiliency improvements etc
Work with development teams to understand their goals and help architect solutions that meet their needs. Develop strong client relationships and grow to be trusted advisor to the clients in this capacity
Help with book of work prioritization, act as technical and management escalation for business impacting issues related to database technologies and implement a global operating model for database support.
Help execute against deployment plans to offshore commodity tasks in the database environment
Qualifications
Experience:
The successful candidate will be a seasoned database professional and should have a proven track record in managing diverse teams that support complicated environments.
The candidate should have a good understanding of database technologies in order to provide direction to the team, set strategy and manage crisis situations.
The candidate should have prior experience supporting and delivering services to Investment banking clients
