Required Areas of Knowledge:
SAN (Storage Area Networks), IBM and/or EMC, z/OS, UNIX (AIX), Linux, and Windows.
Typical activities performed may include:
Interprets data from reports and act on trends based on defined storage thresholds. Design, Storage Area Networks (SAN), Storage Resource Management (SRM), and backup and recovery activities.
Supports storage requirements across all platforms used in the enterprise including z/OS, UNIX (AIX), Linux, and Windows.
Designs and implements data backup and recovery approaches and procedures in line with corporate service levels. Manages parameters associated with systems that affect data backup, archival and recovery
Evaluates, recommends and implements new storage technology and processes to reduce overall storage costs
Manages storage capabilities using a variety of tools on all platforms (e.g., SMS, ABARS, plus numerous platform-specific backup and recovery utilities
Recommends and uses tools to support storage, including availability and integrity of catalog structures, directory structures and physical media in line with service level requirements
Provides mentoring and guidance to storage support team members. Provides subject-matter expertise to other technical service departments, applications groups and storage clients.
