The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research was founded in May 2000 to raise private resources to fund research directed at developing a cure for Parkinson's disease. The Foundation applies extraordinary scientific, business and media assets to this singular focus--thus creating a unique and dynamic organization. Since its inception, MJFF has quickly grown into the largest funder of Parkinson's disease research outside the U.S. federal government, having funded nearly $140 million in research projects globally in both academic and industry labs. Located in the Wall Street area, MJFF is an international organization with a national funding base.Reporting to the Vice President of Communications, the primary role of the Web Production Manager is to monitor, improve and update the performance of various MJFF Web sites. Web management includes responsibility for developing, managing, and implementing Web site content strategies. This position is responsible for implementing electronic communications via MJFF's Web sites including publishing relevant news links, calendar of events, promotional information and useful member information. The Webmaster will also ensure consistency throughout MJFF's Web sites assuring continuity of brand direction in all electronic content. Given the Foundation's commitment to running a lean organization, it can be expected that the Webmaster will have a short learning curve and responsibilities will grow rapidly. Responsibilities:? Maintain, support and develop three MJFF Web sites ? Working within established style guides and parameters, design or refine Web pages using advanced graphics tools? Create and implement new pages and functionalities that are consistent with and/or improve on the style and navigation structure of existing sites? As Web site evolves, make recommendations on optimal content organization and information architecture to maximize effective page design and navigational ease? Maintain and develop Web-based interfaces? Keep up with changing technical standards in areas such as HTML and CSS that affect the workings of the Web site. Knowledge of XML and Javascript a plus? Perform regular analyses of Web site communications and data on Web usage to assess areas of high interest to our Web visitors; make recommendations for changes; ensure quality control and ensure the site meets industry standards of accessibility, functionality and security ? Develop strategies to enhance Web site constituent services, such as interactive communities including blogs, chat rooms, interactive e-mail lists and other social media, electronic versions of MJFF publications, audio/video content, and public feedback on MJFF materials and events? Create search engine optimization strategies and techniques to increase Web traffic and provide monthly Web traffic reports? Day-to-day maintenance of the Web site - check site regularly and repair bugs or other problems such as images that do not load properly? Lead contact with outside Web site contractors and service providers to ensure integration and functionality of the Web site is current and any new changes are being utilized effectively by the MJFF staff? Recommend and implement new technology and functionality to MJFF staff and coordinate with outside developers and designers, as well as non-technical internal users as needed? Be an active, involved and engaged member of the communications team, identifying and helping to fill areas that are in need of additional support Qualifications:? 3 to 5 years' relevant experience in Web site management? A degree in online design, online management, online technology, or information architecture - or the equivalent combination of education and experience? Familiarity with data base driven websites and experience with managing programmers and projects, including optimization across browsers and platforms; as well as familiarity with content management systems and proven ability to keep up to date with rapidly evolving Internet technologies? Proficiency with web formatting technologies such as HTML, CSS, Flash, photo processing software (such as Photoshop). ? For the purpose of managing programmers and making minor site fixes, must have familiarity with programming, scripting languages, operating systems, servers, XML, and other Web technologies? Application service provider experience is a big plus (ex. Blackbaud's Net Community and Kintera)? Analytics expertise, specifically Google Webmaster Tools and Google Analytics Ideal Candidates will possess:? Strong interpersonal skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills including presentation experience? Excellent decision-making and judgment skills, excellent analytical and time management skills. ? Ability to think strategically about the big picture while maintaining excellent attention to detail?
