Roles & Responsibilities

Director, IT Business Engagement

Job Title: Director, IT Business Engagement

Reports To: Vice President, IT Business Engagement

Position Overview:
Regular contact and interaction with management of the Back Office functions including Human Resources, Payroll Operations and Financial teams regarding business requirements and system definition; coordination of efforts in planning and implementing technology solutions; and frequent contact within IS to organize scheduling and execution of project activities.

Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
Be the face of IT to critical functional areas within the business
Along with business management (Human Resources and other), understand and contribute to defining long-term business system strategy, aligning with and supporting the corporate strategy
Support business management in developing business case proposals including business process definition, identifying and assessing technology solutions and forecasting return on investment
Work with business management to develop mid-term information technology strategy to identify, prioritize, select and execute project and support activities
Facilitate steering process including conducting meetings, identifying stakeholders and contributors to projects, communicating status and fostering a collaborative work environment
Establish and maintain service level standards, including determining requirements and expectations, measuring, measuring and improving upon current standards, and reporting to management
Insure compliance with standards and high-quality integration, testing and implementation
Contribute to a professional, team environment through collaboration and information exchange
Understand business objectives, strategies, processes and opportunities
Assist management in prioritizing projects, including new projects and enhancements
Assess benefits, value and costs for proposed projects
Insure high quality process and results throughout the systems development life cycle
Lead team in insuring documentation is complete, up-to-date, and in compliance with standards
Contribute to professional growth of associates through fostering personal development by providing feedback, constructive criticism and direction
Keep abreast of current business and technology trends and incorporate technology perspective into business strategy planning
Manage change to business requirements and priorities as needed.

Strong skills in business process analysis and change management practices

In-depth experience with:
Back Office Applications (SAP, ADP, Cognos)
Project planning and management
Functional Requirements Definition
Technical Requirements Definition
Application and System Testing

Strong knowledge and experience with:
Project management tools
Enterprise systems technology - integrating, deploying and managing
Data analysis concepts and tools

Nice to have:
Retail industry applications

Background:
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to lead and build a collaborative team environment
Adaptable to dynamic priorities based on business requirements
10 years information systems experience, including project and staff management, preferably managing managers
Bachelor’s Degree - Computer Science/Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.
