Installs, modifies, maintains and repairs SQL server software database systems and provides technical assistance to systems users. Position requires a minimum of 5 years experience in 2000+ nodes network environment. Proven ability to maintain various production databases as well as diagnose and solve database related issues. Must be proficient in Microsoft SQL and relational database. Candidate will be responsible for database backups/restores, backup integrity testing, performance tuning, and be required to evaluate existing environment and make recommendations.
* Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and 2005.
* SQL Server database design and administration experience within a high-volume, transaction-oriented production environment
* SQL data modeling and design
* Expert knowledge of relational databases
* Thorough knowledge of data backup, recovery, and rollback planning/implementation
* Expert proficiency in SQL Server optimization, fine-tuning, and scalability techniques
* Thorough knowledge of data security issues
* Knowledge of network architecture and topology
* In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows platforms
* Active Directory* Design, development, review, and administer all databases, database jobs, packages, stored procedures, and calling interfaces to support and sustain the reliability, integrity, and scalability of production and mission-critical applications
* Review and recommend database and system-level optimization techniques and procedures
* Recommend database approaches and design to Engineering staff
* Work closely with Network Engineering/Operations and other IT entities
* Scope and estimate any functional requirements requiring database interaction
* Plan all modifications and rollouts
* Monitor and respond to all database jobs and activity
* Monitor and respond to all database performance and scalability issues
* Install SQL Server databases, services, patches, and/or hot fixes
* Respond to production and/or mission-critical issues and needs on 24/7 basis
