Engineer Software Quality Control in Forest Hills, NY

I. Position Summary:

The Engineer is responsible for the on-time completion and execution of test cases, usage of manual testing skills, and defect reporting to fulfill the mission of ensuring the delivery of quality software.

II. Essential Functions:

? Executes test cases and reports anomalies (defects) in Quality Center by collecting, analyzing, interpreting, summarizing, and displaying issues (30%)
? Develops test strategies, test cases, test data, test coverage that adheres to approved project test plan (25%)
? Derives testable requirements and objectives based on business specifications, requests or through observation of prototype or older versions of application (15%)
? Conducts validation of fixed defects and provides Quality Control (QC) Test Lead with testing status and report (10%)
? Submits created test cases to Quality Control Test Lead for review and inspections and approval (8%)
? Creates traceability of requirements, test cases and defects in Quality Center (5%)
? Contributes as a team player in accomplishing related tasks as needed (7%)

III. Interactions:

Supervision Received:

? Receives general instructions on what is to be done, limitations, quality and quantity expected, deadlines, and priority of assignments from Crewleader. Uses initiative in carrying out recurring assignments independently without specific instruction but receives additional specific instructions from Crewleader for new, difficult, or special projects/assignments

Supervisory Duties:

? No supervisory responsibility

IV. Minimum Qualifications:

? Bachelor?s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or any related field of study
? One (1) to two (2) years experience in Information Technology (IT) preferred but not required
? Experience with Mercury application software (TestDirector/Quality Center) preferred but not required
? Regular attendance and punctuality
? Organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Fun and Passion
? Well groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance
? Pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
? Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
? When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable Crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

V. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

QC Tester ? Specific Competencies
? Knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle, Quality Assurance (QA) methodology and QA reviews of requirements and specifications
? Working knowledge of Mercury application software (Test Director/Quality Center) preferred but not required
? Working knowledge of SQL
? Knowledge in the design and execution of Test Plans and Test Cases
? Ability to create status reports
? Knowledge of Functional, System, Integration, Unit and Regression testing processes
? Ability to create clear and concise defect submissions
? Knowledge of QA methodology
