Looking for a mid-level Feature Design Lead.

Individual will be reporting to a Senior FDL and filling in gaps across the role.

Some of the key skills necessary to perform in this role are:

. Heavy requirements gathering background in a web development environment

. Solid understanding of the SDLC

. Excellent personality - needs to gain buy in from various teams when everyone is not necessarily on the same page

. Leverage current and future technology

. Financial skills - for example - take a look at development and testing costs to add a new feature into the product suite and compare it to what the long term cost benefits will be realized from the enhancement - make business recommendations based on the findings

. Significant strength in any one area can be substituted for weaknesses in other



Summary:

Individual will be responsible for the proper conversion of requirements into actual software

feature designed which a development team will then architect and implement into the actual software code base. The individual must also be able to deduce new features based on expertise gained in both the software application they support and the close contact they have with the customer and the industry in general.



Importance:

Proper feature design is critical to the success of software. Feature design must encompass three very important elements:

1. What the customer wants/needs

2. What the architecture of the application can handle (i.e. performance, scalability, etc)

3. What is doable given resource constraints (time/money

Essential Skills:

. Knowledge of the customer

. Knowledge of how the customer uses the software

. Knowledge of the industry, including the competition (direct or indirect)

. Deep knowledge of the software application, including its feature set, design, and architecture

. Ability to be able to apply technology to a business problem.

. Excellent communication and articulation skills with both the customer and the development team

. Ability to perform presentations about current and upcoming features in the software

. Ability to write up medium weight specifications

. Build a creditability with the development team they support

. Must have genuine enthusiasm and passion for technology, it's application to solve business problems, and ensuring support application is the best in can be.
