BASIC FUNCTION: As part of M&T’s Technology division, the Staff Specialist would provide, design and program information systems solutions to solve basic to complex problems or enhancements for the Bank’s Commercial Loan System (CLN/AFS).RESPONSIBILITIES: The Staff Specialist would be part of a 3-person team, involved in release installs, new enhancements and various other projects directly and indirectly impacting the CLN/AFS Level III, the RDL interface and the Paralender system. Provides design specifications for projects by evaluating client requirements and processes. Obtain a strong working knowledge of the CLN/AFS system Programming in COBOL and Easytrieve (Programming major part of job duties) Evaluates client requirements and processes, develops and prepares application programs which may involve diverse development platforms, software, hardware, technologies and tools. Performs day-to-day support activities and special projects. Provide 24 hour on call support of system. Participation in Bank wide initiatives such as Disaster recovery, conversions, testing of system upgrades Assist junior or contract programmers Knowledge of servers and Databases helpfulFollows and promotes the use of development standards and procedures BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Four-year degree in programming or related subject or 6 to 8 years of experience in programming Strong experience with COBOL & Easytrieve (5+ years)CICS Strong writing and communication skills PC skills – Excel, WordKnowledge of VASM, TSO PC skills – Excel, WordClient/Server (and/or) distributed environment knowledge/experiencePrior banking or financial services related experienceIDEAL QUALIFICATIONS: DB2 knowledge a plus SQL knowledge Knowledge of servers and databases would be a plus Panvalet Commercial Loan System (CLN/AFS)
