Staff developers own the technical success of all proprietary development projects and as the top technical people in the company, are looked to by other department members for their technical expertise and guidance.ResponsibilitiesThe staff developer is accountable for the technical success of a project.The solution must meet the technical and business requirements with elegance and high quality.The staff developer works closely with the project manager, the solutions architect, and other team members to ensure overall project success and a satisfied client. Primary Responsibilities include:Be a leader in the company, technically and professionally.Work with all necessary stake holders to define solutions that achieve the technical and business objectives of either our clients or internal teams.Define the deliverable tasks and work with the project manager to flush out a deliverable plan with an accurate estimate of time for each task within each deliverable.Be a mentor for others in the company.Work closely with client technical team members to hand-off solutions and provide insight into the support and maintenance requirements, as well.Provide hands-on development of deliverables.Ensure that the solution is developed with the highest quality and that appropriate development standards and SDLC practices are followed; leverage appropriate internal QA and support resources, as needed. Desired SkillsSolid academic background in Computer Science/Computer Engineering.Previous audio/visual (VoIP, codec, video conferencing) related development.C programming in multi-threaded environments in Windows, Mac and/or Linux (at least one of them at an expert level).Object oriented design and methodology and relative comfort with C++.Network related programming using TCP, Telnet, SNMP or other communications protocols and familiarity with latest OS programming techniques for performance optimization.Open source programming and latest performance improvement tools and techniques in C programming.Use of 3rd party multi threaded libraries and writing library code.Java J2SE core, frameworks and related servlets.MySQL with understanding of XML/XSLT.IDE and build tools such as Eclipse, ANT & SVN.
