We are also a leading provider of reference and trade publishing for the medical, business, engineering and other professions   McGraw-Hill Higher Education, (MHHE) is a leading provider of print and electronic materials serving the college market, publishing instructional materials including textbooks, lab manuals, study guides, testing materials, software, and multimedia products.   Technology is having a transformative effect on teaching and learning in higher education.  Learning solely from classroom lectures and textbooks is going the way of the dial-up.    McGraw-Hill Education is taking the challenge head on through our Digital Group.   The MHHE Digital Products Group has an outstanding opportunity for a Sr. Project Manager based in New York City , NY .   Essential Responsibilities: Manage large scale, multi-million dollar, multi-faceted software development projects with high level of urgency and visibility across the organization (from concept, requirements, development to product implementation) Partner with the Product Managers, Stakeholders, and Project Managers to document the product's vision & scope then translate that vision into an actionable project plan Oversee vendors to develop, enhance and maintain the product Find creative solutions to technology, product and organizational challenges Responsible for project schedules and confirming each is tracked against plan Manage and report project metrics for scheduling, costs, risks and resources Oversee and track project budget against actual costs ensuring that variances are communicated to the stakeholders Coordinates and conducts regular effective and efficient meetings to review project status, resolve issues and address risks Ensures project risks are identified and management plans are established Mentor junior project managers In depth knowledge of software & web application development Deep knowledge of project management demonstrated by 8-10 years of as Project Manager, or Program Manager Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, plus Previous experience managing a large scale project ($8M +) Vendor procurement and management experience Interactive product development experience, preferably Rational Unified Process (RUP) experience or knowledge Experience working with external software vendors, including offshore vendors, and in utilizing both traditional and rapid/lightweight project Demonstrated skills in leadership, negotiation, conflict management, communications, organizational and critical thinking Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or related field required.
