The Release Manager is responsible for the overseeing of all activities needed from end to end in a release. A release being defined as any change(s) incorporated into a managed IT environment. A release may range from a change to a core software product such as the Clearance product to an operation system patch. In addition, the Release Manager will bring together the various parties need to produce a release, as well as, creating and enforcing the policies and procedures used to produce a release.
During a release there are many activities that take place that fall under the responsibility of the Release Manager.
These activities include:
. Creation of a Release Project Plan
. Maintain the project plan and report on the status of the plan
. Appropriately raise any delays to the plan
. Manage Scope Definition
. Manage Risk Assessment
. Manage Deployment
. Manage Cutover
. Manage moving a release from UAT to Production
. Ensure signoff from the appropriate groups
. Coordinate any meetings needed for the release
. Communicate with all interested parties
. Interface with GTI
. Detail requirements with timeframes
. Hold GTI to the agreed upon timeframes
. Interface with Testing
. Ensure testing has been completed
. Assist in development of test plan
. Hold Testing to agreed upon timeframes
. Appropriately escalate defects
. Manage Change Requests
. Plan and Manage Backouts
. Assist Operations where needed
. Evaluate and refine process at the end of a release
. Evaluation of tools to assist the release process Experience: The following skills are required: J2EE, Java, Oracle, SQL, Tivoli, Unix Shell Scripting
Should have a good understand of the release management process and have some financial experience.
Sqlplus, autosys, clearcase, apache, iplanet, nas, san, aix, windows, solaris, websphere, oracle app server, project planning, and netbackup would all be helpful skills to have. To Apply to this job go to http://www.GadBall.com or click here
