SmartSource is a 10 year old IT staffing company that specializes in IT staff augmentation services. Headquartered in the western suburbs of Chicago, offering nationwide coverage SmartSource provides a wide variety of IT resources on a contract, contract to hire, perm placement or project basis . We are currently seeking a backup Field Technician with some Technical background for the following direct hire or temp to perm position: Pay: Negotiable Duration: 3 months Start Date: Beginning of April 1 Specialist lll/Server Engineer Provide overall hardware and software technical support services to support numerous internal projects. Specific Responsibilities: · Responsible for installing and configuring IBM xSeries Servers. · Responsible for installing and configuring Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Microsoft SQL Server 2005, Microsoft Clustering and other server tools. · Responsible for creating fail over SQL cluster utilizing Microsoft clustering technology. · Responsible for working with EMC Clarion Storage Area Network. · Responsible for assisting in the analysis of business requirements and matching appropriate technology to optimize productivity. · Responsible for effectively communicating with team leaders and managers about status and issues. Requirements Experience: A minimum of five years software/hardware technical support experience in a Active Directory function supporting multiple large server farms in a Microsoft Windows 2000/2003, Microsoft SQL database environment. Some .NET experience is a plus. Knowledge: · Must have good understanding of Microsoft operating systems, especially Windows 2000 and 2003. · Must have design experience in large scale environments and in various scenarios · Experience in implementing migration from Windows NT to Windows 2000 Active Directory in large scale environments. · Solid experience creating and managing Microsoft Clustering · Solid experience working with EMC and IBM SAN · Must have experience working with different Microsoft and IBM technical support teams (Premier and PSS) and be familiar with escalation procedures. · Experience working with Microsoft product teams since we have a very large and unique infrastructure that may require product team support/involvement. · 5 years experience in working on Microsoft technology · Must understand the concepts of the Microsoft Operations Framework · Must have experience with DNS, WINS and DHCP · Must have expertise on Microsoft authentication/authorization models and impact on performance, scalability and security. Attributes: Candidate must be personable, determined, meticulous, cooperative, flexible and punctual. Schedule: Ability to be available, as needed for on-call 7X24 shift rotations, overtime and off hours support. Certifications: MCSE 2000 or 2003 preferred Contract begins from the effective date of award and may end on or before 6/30/2008, or whatever is in the best interests of the NYC Department of Education.
