The Systems Operator will provide support to internal groups such as Customer Service and Account Teams for production issues and the Development and Product Teams for non-production issues. The Systems Operator requires candidate to work rotating shifts to provide the customers with the best service and support coverage. The candidate will need to be willing to work outside normal business hours under certain conditions and wear a pager when out of the office.

The Systems Operator will be responsible for providing phone, e-mail and instant messaging assistance to first and second level support personnel. The position will require monitoring of a support ticket queue and several application tools throughout the shift. The user will also be performing several operational tasks such as building and deploying the various applications to required environments. These operational tasks will require an understanding of the Linux operating system and other common Open Source applications. Candidate will also be asked to complete tasks for larger projects and/or solely complete smaller projects. This tasks and projects will be completed while not performing their primary function of supporting internal customers. The Systems Operator will have basic Perl programming skills to be able to complete common reporting and monitoring projects required by the group’s customers.

The Systems Operator should have strong troubleshooting skills and a desire to learn new skills. Acquiring new skills will be partially accomplished by mentoring from senior group members but will mostly require a large degree of independence.

The Systems Operator will be part of the Operations Center in the Production Operations group. The Production Operations group is tasked with maintaining all environments at their defined support levels. Team members must have a strong customer service attitude, a commitment to completely resolving issues, and accountability for the environments they support.
