SUMMARY
Organizes, plans, directs and participates in the activities of a professional staff that is responsible for the capacity and performance planning of voice and data networks to aid in the design of new networks or system upgrades and to ensure continuous, efficient functioning of existing networks.Plans capacities and performance metrics for complex networks that span multiple technologies. Advises and counsels operating managers on measuring the performance of their technical area, e.g. networks, servers, and/or applications.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


· Organizes, plans, and participates in the activities responsible for:
* Development of reporting methodology and production/distribution of daily, weekly and monthly network and related system capacity and performance reports
* Advises and counsels operating managers on measuring the performance of their technical area, e.g. networks, servers, and applications,
* Planning network and related system capacity based on service level objectives, existing technology standards, and cost.
* Performing statistical regression analysis to predict future volumes and potential bottlenecks as a means for developers and user groups to avoid such problems.
* Participating in the development cycle of new networks and related system upgrades by testing the impact on capacity and performance.Facilitate discussions on system performance.
· Represent Bank on Enterprise Capacity Governance and all enterprise efforts.
· Plans network capacity for complex computer networks that span multiple technologies.Recommends system performance measures andparameters:
* Participating in the documentation and summarizing of technology components into business application workloads.
* Designing models to merge all data and workloads to predict system failure outcomes for multiple worst-case, scenarios.
* Providing capacity planning support for new product development by running various workload conditions to strengthen design efforts.
* Performing stress tests on existing networks by multiplying workloads until system failure under controlled laboratory conditions.
* Documenting capacity planning test results and making recommending alternatives to avoid future problems.


· Develops and proposes authoritative recommendations to maximize the performance and capacity of all networks and related computer systems.Engages in a professional dialogue with vendors and other technical experts on network capacity planning.


· Evaluates, operates and maintains network management, performance, and capacity management tools.

· Recommends or initiates improvements to existing operating policies and procedures.


· Leads and/or participates in projects to develop new systems.

· Develops and proposes authoritative recommendations to maximize the performance and capacity of all networks.Engage in a professional dialogue with vendors and other technical experts on computer system capacity planning.


· Initiates improvements to existing operating policies and procedures.



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Organizes, plans, and directs the work of a staff comprising supervisors, professionals and/ or technicians.


· Schedules, plans and assigns work; plans for staff development and utilization.


· Hires new personnel as needed.


· Initiates or recommends disciplinary actions, promotion, or other personnel actions.


· Evaluates the performance of subordinates in formal review, counsels staff members to improve their performance.


· Develops and maintains an operating budget, and initiates improvements to existing operating policies and procedures.




QUALIFICATIONS/ COMPUTER SKILLS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
· Advanced College Degree preferred.
· Five years experience in capacity and performance planning, with at least two in a managerial position.

COMPUTER SKILLS
· Capacity planning and performance management tools.
· Network management, performance monitoring and quality assurance.
· Tools such as eHealth (Concord), CiscoWorks, IPMonitor, HPOpenView, OpNet, etc.
· Understanding ATM, Frame Relay, MPLS, Ethernet, Voices Communications Systems, VoIP and IP Telephony.
· Basic understanding of the financial services industry.
· Cisco, Nortel, Avaya, Microsoft, etc.
· Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Experience: EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
· Advanced College Degree preferred.
· Five years experience in capacity and performance planning, with at least two in a managerial position.
