Senior Developer (ASP ) in New York, NY

. This person will assist in maintaining a large number of internal and external web sites and applications, using Microsoft Technologies for dynamically driven/build web sites on ASP platform with MSSQL as the backend. In addition, this role is responsible for day-to-day maintenance and support of the existing code base, as well as research, prototyping and development of new features and add-ons for existing and new web sites. This person plays a critical role on the development team and is expected to have thorough knowledge of development tools, techniques and have proven experience architecting, developing, debugging and fixing performance critical web based applications.


Primary Responsibilities:


Develop, maintain and support large, high-availability, web based internal applications and reporting tools; support high-traffic commercial websites
Learn and understand existing platforms and their day-to-day maintenance
Develop and maintain feature add-ons to the existing platforms, as well as new web applications based on the existing platform
Assist in managing the development life cycle from conception to testing and deployment
Interface with production, design, and editorial team on changes, day-to-day requests, sizing and scoping of new initiatives and projects.
Coordinate code releases and launches with Systems group
Provide documentation on legacy code and new projects
Secure and harden existing applications and ensure proper steps are taken with new applications and sites to provide high level of availability and security
Troubleshoot end-user issues and errors with various content management systems


Qualifications:


BS in Computer Science or equivalent
Minimum of 5 years application development experience with Microsoft's suite of tools.
At least 3 years development experience with Active Server Pages (ASP).
3+ years of ASP/VBScript programming
3+ years working with MSSQL 7, 2000, or 2005 as well as Access (Tuning queries, writing stored Procedures)
3+ years of Software/Web Application design experience
Understand Object Oriented Programming design
Intermediate Javascript Knowledge with at least 2 years experience
Intermediate XML Knowledge with at least 1 year experience working with XML documents programmatically
Working knowledge of XML/XSLT, DHTML/CSS
Intermediate Database Schema and Relational Database Design Knowledge with at least one large database schema designed by the candidate, or 5-6 small schema designs
Intermediate Subversion and CVS experience with at least 2 years experience working with a versioning system
Extensive understanding of CMS and CPS systems
Intermediate Windows OS/Windows Server Knowledge with at least 2 years experience working on Windows based servers
Understanding security issues surrounding deploying distributed, large-scale web-based applications
Excellent written and verbal skills with strong problem solving and organizational skill
Ability to manage multiple tasks to challenging timescales
Ability to work with technical and non-technical team members
