Overview: The Network Engineer will maintain, support, and fulfill projects associated with F5, Cisco, and other networking devices located throughout North America. Scope: Configure, design with, and troubleshoot network equipment such as Cisco routers/switches/firewalls, Checkpoint firewalls, F5 load balancers (LTM/BIGIP), GTM, and UNIX DNS. Implement changes and provide on-call coverage. Develop scripts to automate tasks as needed Responsibilities and Duties: . Maintain and support the network and web hosting/load balancing environment consisting of LTM/BIGIP/GTM devices, SSL accelerators, HTTP compressors, UNIX DNS servers, routers/switches/firewalls while staying within all corporate policies and Change Management procedures. . Coordinate upgrades and changes with business entities and other technology infrastructure groups. . Be detail oriented and produce regular documentation to effectively manage the load balancing/network environment. . Have a thorough knowledge of load balancing in a geographically dispersed environment and be able to suggest and perform changes where needed. . Have senior/expert knowledge of Cisco routers/switches/firewalls; perform basic EIGRP/BGP routing, work on IP/ARP/MAC issues, troubleshooting VLAN or physical connectivity to various devices, troubleshooting Cisco access-list and NAT issues. . Have thorough knowledge of TCP/IP protocols, flags and be able to troubleshoot connectivity issues using Wireshark/Tcpdump/snoop. . Have thorough knowledge of DNS, SSL certificate, Cookies, HTTP protocol issues, HTTP compression, SSL offloading, F5 IRULE language/programming and be able to troubleshoot issues of above. . Opening work tickets and providing support with production outages, assisting with product migrations/installations as the business requires. . Responsible for gathering/coordinating resources from other technology teams, if necessary to complete project deadlines. . Review project specifications and make recommendations for improvements. . Follow through on assigned project tasks and consultations/conference calls. . Monitor the incident queue and take ownership of issues needing resolution. . Travel to remote sites as appropriate to participate in data center moves, server installs, and team meetings Experience: Competencies, Qualifications and Experience . Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, IT or Engineering . 5 - 7 yrs experience as a System/Network Engineer. 3+ yrs experience in Web-Hosting environment. . Analytical and detail oriented. . Excellent written and verbal communications. . Independent-thinker and self-starter, who still can work well within a team environment. REQUIRED HARDWARE . F5 Devices . Unix Shell/PERL Scripting . Checkpoint firewall administration experience of Provider1, Nokia, SPLAT, LINUX based firewalls. .
