This is an 18-month contract position in Albany, NY for a Client Server/Oracle Database Consultant/Architect. This position is required to continue the support of design, development, testing and implementation of current and planned new initiatives. Mandatory requirements: three (3) years working with Oracle and a full understanding of the architecture and processes of Oracle 7/Oracle 8 servers; three (3) years in development of large scale complex applications involving on-line and batch environments; three (3) years installing, tuning and general performance of the Oracle product; three (3) years with SQL=PL/SQL, stored procedures/triggers and Oracle tools, including Designer; three (3) years working with knowledge transfer, transition of systems and mentoring. Preferred experience: five (5) years lead technical designer/administrator of Oracle relational databases - all aspects of database instance creation, maintenance and configuration, schema design and development, tablespace/file management, database and SQL tuning, backup and recovery techniques and software install. Oracle releases 8, 9, or 10; five (5) years in the design, architecture, implementation and operational support of data warehouse/data mart and general reporting infrastructures; five (5) years data processing working in public/govt. sector IT applications dealing with delivery of govt. assistance or entitlements in support of Children and/or Family Welfare programs; five (5) years working in Unix environments, especially HP-UX. Should have a solid working knowledge of operating system principles; 18 months working with geocoding/mapping software and their integration into database applications. MapInfo and Oracle (Spatial) software products preferred; good communication/interpersonal skills.
