Business Analyst- Back & Middle Office in NEW YORK, NY

This Business Analyst needs a general knowledge background in Back / Middle Office activities to be able to liaise between the departments. He / she will analyze their reporting needs and coordinate with IT in order to address those needs and translate them in a working reporting tools. Should therefore have enough IT background to be able to present the project to IT and possibly initiate the process. ƒá Manage application support and business realization for various departments such as Accounting, Back Office (Operations) and Financial Markets. This includes meeting with various departments, interfacing with the applications vendors and/or consultants whenever needed, analyzing requests and coordinating projects through to completion. This also includes some working knowledge of various banking systems reporting capabilities and concepts (Murex and Midas, for example), and working with the user departments (e.g., Back Office / Static Data, Accounting) when necessary. ƒá Coordination includes participating in business project realization in collaboration with all local teams (Technical Services, Business Support Services, Quality Assurance, ISO and Compliance), global business and IT teams (Paris and Brussels), when necessary, and client departments. Coordination also entails training of clients, documentation of systems / business processes using established department methodologies, and participating and coordinating in planning and execution of user acceptance testing. ƒá Business process engineering: map, optimize and formalize the operational model with a view to limit risks and enhance the effectiveness of business. ƒá Analyze the larger framework of the reporting needs to current systems including the presentation layer, and assisting the implementation and automation of requests (e.g., reports) by coordinating with internal resources to ensure they can be realized within IT (e.g., current datawarehouse, new datawarehouse). Typical projects in which the Business Analyst will be involved in the short run are to assist in the implementation of iTap. BACKUP: The Business Analyst will be exposed to all team projects and will be required to fill in wherever necessary to meet departmental goals in case the need for a backup function arises. OTHER ASSIGNED RESPONSIBILITIES: Participate in Business Recovery and Continuity planning exercises, whenever necessary. Constant communication with IT management. The BA will also support other Branch (e.g., Canada) client needs whenever needed. Experience: 4 Year Undergraduate Degree At least 4 years of experience in a control conscience banking or financial institution environment. A background in financial services, with strong knowledge of various banking systems, control reporting. Knowledge of Murex & Midas, ETL tools (Genio, XRDJ) & Oracle a plus. Strong communication, interpersonal and organization skills are necessary. Management Skills: The function does not include direct management responsibilities. However, project management skills are very important. Ability to manage projects independently while keeping management informed of progress and the ability to assume responsibility for projects through to completion. Other Skills, e.g.: ƒá Computer: In addition to the regular MS Office knowledge (Excel, Word), exposure to banking systems. The BA should also have a view on relational database concepts, Crystal Reports, should have a good knowledge of Transact SQL, including Store Procedures, triggers, views, and DTS packages and the ability to apply Transact SQL in different database environments (Sybase, Oracle and SQL Server). The BA should have knowledge of the systems development life cycle. ƒá Interpersonal: The function requires excellent interpersonal skills (with a client focus) and involves dealing with local clients as well as clients from different entities who do not necessarily have the same objectives. Constant communication with IT management is also necessary. ƒá Decision-making: The BA has to be able to make on-the-spot independent decisions while meeting with all parties in the projects. The BA needs to possess a certain maturity needed to impose and carry out decisions within the priorities of time constraints and project realization, and to involve management when necessary. ƒá Flexibility: The BA needs to be able to adapt to a changing environment and to possess the skill to handle multiple projects and changing priorities in different environments at the same time ¡V a multi-tasker. ƒá Stress: In view of projects requirements, the BA needs to be able to perform under stressful situations, to maintain a professional relationship with the client and management. ƒá Working conditions/Environment: The Business Analyst will report to and work in close cooperation with the VP Business Process Management, and all client and IT groups. send resume to: To Apply to this job go to http://www.GadBall.com or click here
