Unix Adminisrator in Albany, NY

Contract staff is required to augment State Staff to provide system and web server administration support in a multiple flavor UNIX environment. Client is planning on migrating the Internet and Intranet applications from Tru64 UNIX systems to a highly available and scaleable Linux architecture. The upgrade of the web infrastructure, operating system, hardware, have increased workload in terms of web server support and technical assistance needed for trouble-shooting application production problems. Data backup systems such as Sysback and Veritas also need to be administered. System scripts need to be maintained and created to automate system administration tasks. Server monitoring for security and performance is also required. Contract Staff are managed by and report to State Staff who are responsible for directing and reviewing their work. Contract Staff will also provide knowledge transfer to staff as part of their work. Experience: Minimum of four years experience installing, configuring, and administrating Unix systems. At least one year of that experience must be within the last 24 months. Minimum of four years experience with Korn shell and scripted systems utilities Minimum of four years experience installing and administering web servers.
