Basic Function:
The incumbent will have two roles within the Asset-Liability Management group of M&T's Treasury Department. The primary role is the development, maintenance, and automation of processes using the Microsoft office suite and SQL Server. The secondary role is performing financial analysis on projected balance sheet and income forecasts used to manage the interest rate risk of the bank.
Responsibilities:
-Extensively utilize the Asset-Liability model called QRM along with Microsoft
Access, Excel and SQL Enterprise manager to effectively perform the above-
mentioned tasks. Responsible for building, maintaining and improving databases
aimed at automating and streamlining the movement of data and the reporting of
results.
-Understanding and modeling of bank assets and liabilities in QRM to assist in the
analysis to measure and manage risk to the bank's forecasted net interest income.
-Perform ad-hoc analyses for ALCO or Treasury management as required.
Basic Qualifications:
-Bachelor's Degree in MIS, Computer Science, Finance, or other technical discipline
or three (3) to five (5) years relevant work experience.
-Strong PC skills a must including the use of MS Access and Excel and at least
novice programming knowledge in SQL Server
-Working knowledge of balance sheet and income statement dynamics, and
familiarly with basic financial products offered by a financial institution
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
-Must work well with others and complete work assignments within tight deadlines in
a professional manor.
Ideal Qualifications:
-Proficiency in Visual Basic, OLAP, and SQL is preferred.
-Experience using the Asset-Liability model QRM
-Three to five years experience in quantitative and analytical analyses.
-MBA, CFA, or MS preferred.
-Familiarity with fixed income theory is desirable.
