A New York City agency is searching for a LAN Specialist to perform the following functions:
Implement and support tape backup and disaster recovery
Administer a network of up to 2000 workstations or assist with administration of a large site or network, utilizing one or more protocols
Provide technical consulting services to department / organization regarding use of computers and networks to satisfy business needs
Install, configure and maintain personal computers, Windows networks, file servers, Ethernet networks, network cabling and other related equipment, devices and systems
Add, upgrade, configure and configure modems, disk drives, data acquisition boards, CD ROM units, printers, SAN, NAS, Tape Library (LTO)
Perform and/or oversee software installation and network operating system upgrades
Maintain site licenses for department / organization
Plan and implement network security, including building firewalls, applying cryptography to network applications, manage host security, file permissions and file system integrity, add and delete users
Troubleshoot networks, systems and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties
May lead and/or guide the work of other staff engaged in similar functions
Maintain knowledge with respect to relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment and/or systems

Experience: Candidates must have at least four years of PC Tech experience. Experience in Windows 2000, 2003, NT4 Active Directory, NT4 domain administration, primary network services (DNS, WINS, DHCP, GPO, SUS, DFS, AV, VMWare) Excellent interpersonal skills to heavily interact with clients Proficient in speaking / writing English
